Is Your Website Costing You Jobs?
A homeowner comparing three HVAC companies rarely calls all three. They pull up each website on their phone, and within a few seconds, they've already ruled one or two out — often before reading a single word. Your website is doing sales work every hour of the day, whether you're paying attention to it or not.
It Has to Load Fast on a Phone
Most home service searches happen on a phone, often from someone dealing with a problem right now — a leaking pipe, a dead AC unit, a tripped breaker. If a site takes more than a few seconds to load, most visitors leave before it even finishes. You can check your own site's real-world speed for free with Google's PageSpeed Insights tool.
It Needs to Say What You Do and Where, Immediately
A visitor shouldn't have to scroll or click around to figure out that you do plumbing work in their town. Your service and your service area both need to be obvious on the very first screen.
It Should Make Calling or Texting Effortless
Your phone number should be one tap away on every page, not buried in a footer or a few clicks deep on a "Contact Us" page. If someone has to hunt for it, a lot of them simply won't bother.
It Needs Real Photos, Not Stock Vans
The same rule that applies to van wraps and uniforms applies here — generic stock photography reads as generic. Real photos of your actual trucks, crew, and finished jobs build far more trust than a stock photo of a van that isn't even yours.
It Should Be Built to Show Up in Local Search
A website with no real content about the towns and services you want to be found for won't rank, no matter how good it looks. It needs to be structured around the actual searches your customers are typing in, not just a generic About/Services/Contact template.
